Dispatch & trips

The lifecycle of a FreightCMD trip: request → quote → assignment → tracking → close.

Trip requests

Clients submit requests through the portal or staff create them on their behalf from Dispatch → New request. FreightCMD geocodes pickup and dropoff against Google Maps and shows distance in real time.

Instant quotes

Quotes are calculated from current fuel prices, vehicle km/litre, distance and any surcharges (after-hours, weight). Per-vehicle margin overrides apply automatically. The client sees the quote and accepts (or counters) it from the portal.

Assignment

On accepted quotes, the dispatch board suggests the best vehicle by capacity, location and driver availability. Licence-expiry checks block invalid assignments before they happen.

Live tracking

Once assigned, the driver's Android app streams GPS every 10 seconds. Dispatch sees the whole fleet on one map; the client sees a single-truck view for their trip. Map bounds are clamped to Sri Lanka by default.

Closing the trip

The driver marks the trip complete; the system flips status, issues the invoice on the client's terms and triggers SMS / push notifications.
